Wipeout! Stress is the Main Cause of Subluxations!

Hi this is Dr. Rob with your weekly health blog. This week we’re going to talk about causes of subluxations. There are 3 main causes which in reality are just one cause: stress. The inability of your body to adapt to stress causes subluxations. It could be a physical stress, a mental type stress, even a chemical stress.

Let’s discuss one of the causes, Physical Stress, the most obvious one. If you want to see a way one can subluxate himself, tune into Wipeout on ABC on Thursday Dec 8th at 8 p.m. You’ll be able to see my daughter as one of the contestants on Wipeout subluxating herself!
Take a look at the way people can subluxate themselves then we can discuss the biomechanics of it later!

This is a friendly reminder to always get your kids checked out, ’cause it seems like with kids every day is a wipeout!

Chiropractor Manhattan Beach Has A Challenge For You

Hello this is Dr. Rob with your weekly health blog. Did you know that if you eliminate glutamate and aspartame from your diet for 4 months it can eliminate chronic pain? That’s coming from the Annals of Pharmacology in 2002.
If you really want to challenge yourself, go a step further by eliminating the chemicals and processed foods from your diet for 4 months and see how that is able to handle chronic pain and your over-all well being.
The Average American consumes about 150 pounds of food additives a year. Taking that in consideration, our bodies are having a hard time trying to process all these chemicals.
Let me know how it goes. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate in contacting me at Bates Chiropractic 310-545-4188 or online at www.chiropractormanhattanbeach.com
Also, tomorrow evening Wednesday November 16th from 6-9 is the Holiday Open House. All the businesses and restaurants are opening their doors with sample food, give-aways, and wine!
We will be having The World Famous Spot in Hermosa Beach catering the event here! Bring your friends and come see Santa, Christmas carolers, and the tree lighting at the pier!

National Vaccine Awareness Week

Hi this is Dr. Rob with your health blog for the week. This week is Vaccine Awareness Week, October 30th through November 5th.
People have been asking me about vaccines lately, whether or not they should get their kids vaccinated. I really don’t think my opinion is important. What’s important is that you get the facts. Don’t take my opinion, nor your medical doctor’s opinion, get the facts. There’s a book I recommend my patients to read which is Make An Informed Vaccine Decision by Dr. Mayer Eisenstein. He reviews a lot of great facts.
That’s one great source you can go through, but also you can go to www.mercola.com where they will hold a free screening of the documentary The Greater Good. It’s a very rational, scientific discussion of both sides. You’ll get both sides of the coin, pro and con on vaccines. It will give you a better idea on how to make those decisions instead of relying on emotions to guide your decisions.
Get the facts, go to www.greatergoodmovie.org and that will redirect you to www.mercola.com to view this documentary. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate in calling me at Bates Chiropractic at (310)545-4188 or online at www.chiropractormanhattanbeach.com

We want to have our own health freedom, and this is part of it. Make your own choice!

When The Cure is Worse Than The Cause

This is Dr. Rob with your weekly health blog. This week I’m concerned with an article I recently read. My concern is that a lot of times we do certain types of treatments on our bodies where the cure is actually worse than the cause. An article just came out in the New England Journal of Medicine stating “super-bugs” are being created due to an over-utilization of antibiotics. We’re using antibiotics for viral infections when they’re really designed for bacterial infections. What happens is when you take an antibiotic, most the bacteria die except for maybe a few, and those few will adapt over the course of weeks, months, and even years. Their offspring then become resistant to that antibiotic, so now when you go to take the antibiotic, it won’t work.
It forces our technology to try to keep up with the super-bugs, but what they’re finding is that it takes seven to ten years to develop a new antibiotic where it only takes a few months for super-bugs to multiply. We’re being faced on relying on our bodies to fight off these bugs where the antibiotics fail to work. We have to focus on building health from the inside out. We all know we have to eat right and exercise, but we also need a good nerve supply.
Why? Because the nerve system controls and coordinates the immune system.
When the body has interferences from subluxations, the immune system won’t work as well. So, it’s very important to get regular spinal checkups-even if you don’t have any pain- to make sure your body’s working well from the inside out.

Anyway

This week I want to talk about a patient that came in a couple years ago. This particular patient was a monk from China; she came in with the traditional Chinese robe and her head shaved. The reason she came in was because she heard getting adjusted was great for your health. She mentioned, “You’re as old as your spine”, which is something we talk about all the time.

We went ahead and checked her spine, found out she had a subluxation, we adjusted her, and her eyes lit up. She gave me a big smile and thanked me for the adjustment.

On the way out she told me about her world travels, how she went to a Children’s Home in Calcutta, India. This children’s home was run by The Missionaries of Charity founded by Mother Teresa

On the wall in the Children’s Home was a story.  She had the story written on a loose piece of paper in a book she gave me.  It read:

People are unreasonable, illogical, and self centered,

Love them anyway!

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives,

Do good anyway!

If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies,

Succeed anyway!

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow,

Do good anyway!

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable,

Be honest and frank anyway!

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight,

Build anyway!

People really need help but may attack you if you help them,

Help people anyway!

Give the world the best you have and you’ll get kicked in the teeth,

Give the world the best you have anyway!

I just wanted to bring this up, being that it is Thanksgiving week.  Happy Thanksgiving.

I am thankful for you choosing our office.
